Evora and Wine

This full-day tour from Lisbon will take you to the UNESCO site of Evora and the beautiful Alentejo region, where history, culture, and authentic flavors come together.

Embark on a full-day adventure to the city of Evora. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the town dates back more than 2000 years. It was sacked by the Romans in 57 B.C. and the Moors in 715 A.D., and the town still reflects some of its influence.

Crossing the Tagus River, you will travel through the Alentejo region, dotted with cork oaks, olive groves, and vineyards. Upon arrival in Evora, explore the narrow streets and discover masterpieces of past eras and the town's key monuments. Your guide will provide an overview of the town before giving you free time to further explore its highlights.

Visit some of Evora's most important landmarks, including the Church of Sao Francisco and the fascinating Chapel of Bones, one of Portugal's most unique monuments. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Cathedral of Evora, including its church and cloister, and admire the Roman Temple, a remarkable symbol of the city's ancient heritage. Stroll through Plaza do Giraldo and Rua 5 de Outubro, known for traditional handicrafts.

You will have free time for lunch (not included, at own expense), with the option to dine at a local restaurant and sample regional specialties such as Portuguese-style pork or codfish a Bras. Continuing your journey, travel to the picturesque medieval village of Monsaraz. Here, you will visit its historic castle and enjoy free time to explore its charming streets and take in breathtaking views over the Alqueva Lake.

To end the day, enjoy a wine tasting experience featuring regional products at a local Wine Lounge (or similar), offering a taste of the unique flavors of the Alentejo region.
